Celebrating the Three Pillars of Whisky

Celebrating the Three Pillars of Whisky

At Tri Carragh, the name is a tribute to the Gaelic phrase meaning "three pillars," honoring the essential ingredients of whisky: water, barley, and yeast. These timeless elements have been at the heart of Scotland's finest spirits for centuries, transforming through time, skill, and patience into a unique expression with every cask. As a single cask malt brand, Tri Carragh celebrates individuality and quality, offering limited-edition releases that will never be replicated. Each bottle reflects thoughtful cask selection, ensuring every sip tells a story and inspires conversation.

Three Pillars. One Standard.

THE ORIGIN

Three Pillars. One Standard.

Ryan McCafferty and Ola Lopatowska founded Tri Carragh under their Edinburgh-based parent company, Stravaig Spirits. The name is Gaelic for "three pillars," a nod to the three ingredients at the heart of every whisky: water, barley, and yeast. Simple ingredients, centuries of tradition, and patience in oak.

They select each cask with a singular aim: choose the distillery and spirit that will encourage the most conversation. Every release is single cask, cask strength, non-chill filtered, natural color. Limited bottles, never replicated. The approach has earned recognition across the international circuit, including Grand Gold medals, IWSC awards, and category wins at the World Whiskies Awards.

Three Standing Stones

The Standing Stones
The logo is drawn from the ancient standing stones scattered across the Scottish countryside. No one knows exactly why they were built. Worship, navigation, timekeeping. Ryan and Ola chose them because they connect to the heritage and mystery of Scotland itself, the same land that shaped the whisky.
Three Pillars
Tri Carragh is Gaelic for "three pillars," pronounced "tree ka-rah." The three pillars are water, barley, and yeast. Everything in Scotch whisky starts with those three ingredients, combined with time and oak. The name is a reminder that complexity comes from simplicity done well.
