This exceptional release from Tri Carragh showcases the rich traditions of Glen Elgin distillery, one of Speyside's hidden gems. Distilled on July 6, 2011, this single malt spent over a decade maturing before being reracked into a 1st Fill Tawny Port Barrique for an additional 15 months in November 2022. With an outturn of just 292 bottles, this whisky offers a rare glimpse into Glen Elgin's signature style, enhanced by the thoughtful cask selection.

Known as a “quiet hero” of Speyside, Glen Elgin often contributes its complex and elegant spirit to some of the finest blends. However, in this single malt release, its distinct character shines through—a beautiful combination of floral, fruity, and malty notes with a signature smoothness.

Cask Influence

This whisky was matured in a 1st Fill Tawny Port Barrique, which plays a significant role in its flavor profile. The port cask imparts decadent notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and treacle, while its extended finishing period amplifies the whisky's complexity. The 15 months of reracking allowed the port wine's rich, sweet influence to marry seamlessly with Glen Elgin's naturally floral and fruity profile, creating an exceptional dram.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Dark chocolate-covered raisins, orange zest, and citrus intertwine with hints of dark treacle. A splash of water unveils tropical fruit, floral aromas of heather and lavender, and bright notes of clementines.

Palate

Neat, the whisky delivers warming cinnamon spice layered with treacle sweetness. Adding water brings out juicy tropical fruit flavors, balancing spice with a lush, fruity character.

Finish

A long, satisfying finish with lingering notes of chocolate, treacle, and soft floral hints, leaving behind a refined complexity.
