The Plan vs. The Reality of Our First Whiskey Delivery
The initial plan was straightforward:
- Bottling: Scheduled for August 12-14.
- Air Freight: Set to commence within 48 hours post-bottling.
- Customs and Delivery Centers: Expected passage within 72 hours following freight initiation.
- Customer Deliveries: Estimated at 3-4 business days from receipt at delivery centers.
However, the reality unfolded differently:
- The air freight was delayed by three weeks due to unforeseen regulatory requirements.

Timeline:
- September 4: Palette picked up from the bottling warehouse.
- September 5: Arrival in Los Angeles.
- September 10: Received at the import warehouse.
- Today, September 18: Whispering Waters Girvan 27 and Teaninich 12 are en route to the shipping warehouse.
Reflections: This journey took over four weeks for air-freighted products to be prepared for customer shipping, a stark contrast to the initial plan. While ocean freight could add an additional five to six weeks, this first experience with bottling and importing has been immensely educational. We expect the process to smooth out with each subsequent run.
Looking Ahead: Our next bottling run is slated for October 8-10, with a streamlined air freight and delivery setup already in place. Upcoming releases include:
- Whispering Waters North British 35 Year - Matured in an Ex-Bourbon Cask.
- Whispering Waters Braeval 9.94 Year - Aged entirely in a 1st Fill PX Sherry Cask.
