This special release from Ferg & Harris celebrates the unique character of Caol Ila, situated on the scenic northeastern coast of Islay. Utilizing water from Loch Nam Ban, naturally filtered through limestone, Caol Ila's whiskies showcase a softer side of the Islay peat profile. Known for lighter peat and a balance of smoky flavors with notes of floral and citrus, Caol Ila crafts whiskies that are both robust and refined.

Distinctive Features of Distillation:

• Brunello di Montalcino Cask Finish: This whisky is enriched with this wine cask finish from renowned Tuscan vineyards known for their robust Sangiovese grapes. This finish imparts layers of dark cherry and blackberry notes, adding complexity and a wine-infused wood influence that elevates the traditional peaty character with elegant fruity sweetness and smoky salinity.

Nose

That initial inhale gives off scents of peat, honeyed smoked ham, and the tang of salt that closes wine fruitiness from the special cask finish. 

Palate

For a heavily peated scotch, this starts with an incredible soft sweetness that subsides and is chased by more big smoked meat flavors enhanced by a saline tinge to close.

Finish

A medium finish that nudges you to take another sip. Neither short nor sweet with a given staying power of its savory bacon notes.
